Finca Romelia is a family-run nature and agrotourism farm located in the mountains of Manizales, in Colombia's Eje Cafetero, with more than 150 years of family history. More than 50 years ago, José and Marisa's passion for orchids gradually transformed this farmland into a space for the conservation and knowledge of biodiversity. In 2014 we opened its doors to tourism to share this story with travelers from Colombia and the world.
Travelers find a living farm, not a stage set created for tourism: trails among crops and forests, a collection of more than 840 species of orchids, birdwatching —with 270 species recorded in the updated 2026 inventory— and a close encounter with rural life and our hosts.
Our difference lies in bringing together tourism, conservation and rural life. We have restored natural areas, protected forests associated with water sources and planted trees to recover biological corridors. At the same time, the project generates local employment and has involved families from the territory for more than 15 years.
We have a small rural lodging in the main house, but our main focus is nature experiences, especially the tours of orchids, landscapes and fruit trees, as well as birdwatching. These experiences are designed for travelers of different profiles who want to get close to rural culture, learn about our biodiversity and understand how agriculture and conservation can coexist in the same territory.
